Throat Chakra

Last week we saw a reversed Ace of Swords gives a final warning about overstepping with our enthusiasm. This week, we have managed to course-correct and turn what could have been an embarrassing gaffe into a moment of triumph. The critical lesson here is that our ability to pivot and transform a negative into a positive is part of the light we bring to the world right now. This is entirely due to the work we’ve been doing on ourselves and specifically with how we’ve broadened our horizons to see new, valuable ideas that can be applied to make the world responsive to the needs of the people living here right now. In a very big way, this is a message from a prior “Future Selves” post to show that we have indeed, arrived.

Now that some of the towers have fallen and the smoke is starting to clear, we see more profoundly the vast possibilities ahead of us. With the tall, imposing turrets before, we couldn’t see our true north – our “North Star” and so we couldn’t navigate our way around all the structures and barriers that were before us. Now that some of the dust is settling, we can finally see an open horizon full of possibilities. Start to dream of a new home where your true north is always visible to guide you on the next steps.

This is normally a card that means “off to new shores”, leaving behind conflict and woe, but here, I feel like our inner children are still clinging to a hope that is far-fetched and risky. Like going back to a war-torn village to find a child’s stuffed animal, the risk of leaving it behind still weighs more heavily than the risk of moving forward without it. We keep getting dragged back into the drama of our physical realities trying to pursue dreams that could cut us down if we linger too long. Notice which creature comforts and habits are drawing us back into an old version of ourselves.

Solar Plexus Chakra

Another solar plexus message from the ancients and ancestors. Remember last week’s message was about having the courage to show up as ourselves, especially knowing that some of those who came before us were prevented or punished for being their authentic selves. Because we are entering an era where we must shine brightly to lead humanity out of its self-destructive, overconsumption of its essential resources, we are urged to carry our banner with pride. Yes, we carry the banners of our ancestors, but they want you to know that they are carrying YOURS more than the ones they created themselves. They want you to keep the symbols and traditions that support you, but to also add your own because the choices you make now create the pathways that future generations will have to tread. Be intentional and live with purpose.

The Devil

I know…it’s frustrating that we just broke free of one mental prison, but now we have the Devil card already taunting us from the future – showing us a humanity that is chained to its poor choices – or rather its poor motivations. It might feel like a step backward, but the Devil always shows up to show us the illusions we tether ourselves to – the bypassing and denial. Notice always who tries to blame the devil or some other scapegoat for the suffering they caused. We are entering a time of radical transparency and many would rather cling to their illusions of innocence than break free of the habits and beliefs that give them an excuse to be rotten. It will be their choices (and some of ours) that give rise to a new illuminator of the painful collective truths.

Last week we explored the thin line between can and cannot. However, here, it is more than just obeying a line in the sand, it’s about managing some very weighty issues with the skill of a juggler standing on a wall at high tide during a tropical storm. It isn’t just a matter of skill and brevity, but one of decisiveness and purpose. Being able to assess what is and is not useful to your overall goals and overriding purpose in life will be of the utmost importance. And just like the Ace of Swords at the beginning speaks to our ability to pivot into a good idea, this speaks to our ability to manage that idea into fruition given the other competing priorities. The purpose matters even more now.

Undercurrents

Queen of Swords

Crown Chakra

We need to put on our no-nonsense hat and start cutting through all the bullshit that is flowing in our direction. There are a lot of competing voices in the undercurrent: the grief of millions who fear for their families or countries, the anger of millions who hate that their unearned power is finally exposed to the world, the jealousy of millions who think they deserve more than the privilege they have, the suffering of others who have nothing but give so much for so little. It’s hard to tell which voices to pay attention to which is why we have to be discerning in our consumption of media and stories. See what story you’re being fed, versus the ways it was embellished to activate your nervous system. We don’t need wild swinging of a machete to cut down “the swamp” of information, we need a wise and seasoned leader (you, me, us) who will step up and add some rational calm to the chaos tantrum we see around us.

Final Advice

Judgment

Heart Chakra

For a long time, I hated the judgment card. Having grown up in the Catholic Church the depictions always seemed to be one of stern judgment, an angel about to announce my fate. My own bias and experience didn’t show me the celebration of being found worthy of resurrection and new life, it showed the moments of supplicating myself to the judgment of others. It wasn’t until later in life, after I had faced every kind of human judgment possible that I realized my human propensity for punishment was coloring this card with failure instead of approval. Here, the final advice is to not let our fears about our worthiness stop us from finding ourselves worthy. In so many ways, some of us (okay, me) would prefer punishment to the vulnerability of being seen…but with the Sun also in this spread, this is a sign of approval even if it’s hard to bear. The message here is clear to me, “Buck up, it’s Leo season. You’ve earned the right to show up and shine.
