Living the Message: Dealing with the Fallout

I trust that if you’re reading this page, you’ve been aligned with me long enough to know that I think this Trump presidency will be an abject disaster the likes of which we are not at all ready for. I could list the reasons, but they’re moot because well, the worst case scenario could be the literal worst…especially for the vulnerable people that I love and serve.

But now that I got some of my other feelings off my chest, I’m not here to dwell…I’m here to Organize! I’m not here to comply, I’m here to be ungovernable. My ancestors didn’t come this far to give up to a slimeball in an ill-fitting suit. Oh hell to the fuck no.

Forging a way forward

Let me reassure you that a) multiple organizing efforts are underway, b) there is no right place to start and c) it isn’t all on your shoulders. Take a deep breath and realize that it is okay to star exactly where you are, with the people you know. This is how all organizing starts.

Even reaching to those within your inner circle, formating plans to keep one another safe, hopeful and responsive is a great place to start. These are the folks who should have your back, who would put their shield next to yours to fight these battles together. We need to be able to trust those who are locked arm in arm with us, so take stock of who you have…and then start reaching out to those who you don’t see sitting at your table.

There are people out there already doing extraordinary things – envisioning new Political Action Committees, resource sharing, healing circles, hex the patriarchy ceremonies, passport and relocation navigation and of course, mutual aid networks of many different kinds. Instead of reinventing the wheel, once you have your people gathered to you, each you start reaching out to at least two or three resources/professionals/allies to help illuminate and educate about what is already happening and where you want to direct your energies.

We are not here to be saviors – we are here to work side-by-side to do our part. And so, even within my own circle of influence, our goal is to create networks of care where we can more easily resource different types of help for vulnerable people. Helping the helpers so the time are a little less impossible than is promised.

Don’t be daunted by how small your efforts may seem. It could be as easy as supporting people during online attacks or ensuring your art is utterly truthful and audaciously loving. You have time, talent or treasure to offer and we have the same to share with you. All you have to do is keep reaching out.

About Spark the Heart Network

I launched this network in July 2024 as a support for helpers, healers and heart-centered leaders of all walks of life. The vision was to create a professional network of peer support to share skills, knowledge and connections that can help equalize opportunities for the vulnerable populations we serve, while creating community to counter the impact of burnout.

But let’s be real, the reason you’re here is because of the election…asking “what can I do?” or “how will we survive?” Many of us work with vulnerable populations or have lived experience with systemic trauma of some kind. We may not have the answers, but we are a curious crew with inquisitive hearts and open minds with a passion for justice, so if there is anyone who can help you find them it’s us!

Here’s how I hope the group will help us in the coming weeks & months:

  1. A support network for spiritually sensitive, big hearted, and compassionately aware  emerging leaders to be able to discern what is truly theirs to carry to better root out the remnants of oppressive beliefs in their background.
  2. Group training and skill shares aimed to improve our relationships with others by addressing conflict, holding space for accountability, harmonizing in a group setting and managing vulnerability in healthier, trauma informed ways.
  3. Activating as a group to use our earned resilience to lead with vulnerability as strength. As systems and institutions fall, we will be strengthening ones our roots of justice, equality, sustainability and empathy to reduce systemic trauma.

While I will be continuing the regular group on the 3rd Wednesdays of the month as more of a ” staffing” support group for emerging leaders for issues that arise in their day-to-day work. I will host biweekly “organizing calls” to keep us on track and keep our resources, skill shares and emotional support connected and flowing.

If this sounds appealing for you…then join us! The next organizing call is on the 11th and the next support group is on the 20th. I would love to see you there!

You’re invited…

Dealing with the fallout of this Trump win will take all our strength and resolve 💪They will try to control us by drilling in the illusions of separation & scarcity. Our advantage is that they have never even told the truth to themselves. They have no hope of winning the long game.

Like every other survivor, I know this coercive game so well…and they aren’t the victors they think they are. This is our moment to rise.

Join me for another organizing call. Last week we processed the pain, this week we get to work.

Meet me there Monday 11/11 @ noon (Mtn) (invite sent after interest form is received)
