While it has been logistically difficult for me to post the Messages of Divine Love via this wordpress site, I’m wanted to give an alternative to having a substack subscription so I can better archive these for future reference. Intro Notes to the Deck & Reading
Thinking that we needed a ray of hope, I chose the Work Your Light Oracle to bring some crystallizing energy into this month. I haven’t used this deck in a while, so it was fun to get reacquainted, even though I may have bypassed the goals of this deck a bit with where I am in my life.
On the one hand, I credit this deck with giving me the kick in the pants I needed to explore my ancestral roots. It gave me ways to visualize the threads of connection that have crafted the Empress crown that I wear so comfortably today. The book that accompanies this deck was similarly useful in helping me define my current calling’s direction, inspiring the Messages of Divine Love you receive from me each week.
But too many of the messages in this deck rely on the concept of Starseeds, which have started to become symbolic of spiritual bypassing. Too often utilized by Alt-Right adjacent “love & light” accounts, since 2016, these concepts have been utilized to inspire a total fracturing of reality that has promoted Trump and at the very least has ignored marginalized communities if not outright targeting them. This is a great post by someone who used the Starseed deck, a similar deck by the same creator.
Even though I still align with this deck, it’s only because I have a language with this deck that predates COVID and all the QAnon bullshit. The beating heart of this deck is the same message as mine: We are all connected. We are made of the same stuff as the stars that died long before us, connecting us through time and space. To truly find “home” we cannot neglect the one we have, but instead flow together with a purpose – to combine my starry talents with yours to lift us all up and forward together. We can only become part of a cosmic whole when we allow ourselves to become part of something bigger – making “we” more important than “me”. And it all starts with connection.

The examination of conscience that the Devil reversed inspired last week has led us to a liberation, a release of our old wounds. The tethers, leashes, ropes, chains, cages, and threats that once held us down are ripping away one by one. We hold all the keys, but sometimes it takes a few tries to even notice the tangled knot of hurt in our system. Forgive yourself and allow the grip to loosen, to flow to your own rhythm until you manage to wriggle free or the entities holding those ties finally relent. Be free, my friends.

The equivalent of the Tower card in this deck, this is a last-ditch effort to get us to finally let go of those cords that we’ve been clinging to. In particular, if we are still clinging to hopes that “everything will go back to normal”, we are going to be very disappointed and hurt by the world that is coming. “Normal” was a hyperbole of control, an unattainable goal that we deluded ourselves into thinking was ok. For example, when “normal” is a level of consumerism, extraction, and destruction that leaves our earth in decay, widening gaps of inequality…then no, normal is NOT what we need. We have been given a sacred glimpse these past few months into what change could look like for ourselves…now it’s time to apply that to a larger audience – what does the future look like for your community, for our humanity if we chose to throw “normal” on its head?

“I’m never going to be like my parents. I’m going to be different,” said every generation ever. While we can be very successful at distancing ourselves from our lineage and family line, we are never truly free of the burdens and blessings they passed down. From the color of our eyes to the talents we carry, we are always a reflection of who came before us. The early onset of my gray hair at fourteen years old is a gift from my grandpa Rose, just as a talent for multifunctional anxiety is a gift from my mom. I don’t get to escape those even if I need to go no-contact. Just as I cannot escape a family history of oppression on both sides of the equation. The sooner we reckon with the reality of who we are, and who are in the mirror, the easier it will be to accept what we see.

When in doubt in the next few weeks and months, find a way to connect back with nature. Whether it’s integrating a moon practice that honors the different phases of the moon or just sitting in the grass once a day, let nature share her heart with you. Remind yourself that you are a part of this cosmic flow, sharing the same “star stuff” as the trees, the bees, and even the minerals of the rocks. Feel yourself a part of their cosmic flow to stay grounded when the chaos seems too much.

The hardest part of the work ahead of us is pulling apart the threads of what is true from our family history, our past lives, and our spiritual influences so that we can better understand our desires. Too many of our desires have been influenced by what we scraped together from ignorance and humility, hubris and conceit. Taking a more objective look at what is legend versus truth in our intersecting histories (such as delving into Akashic records or genealogy) will help you better differentiate between the authentic desires of the soul and those we’ve been carrying for others.

The sacral and heart chakras both play a prominent role this week, reminding us of the comforts of companionship. We are not alone in this journey and all of us are calling in the amazing and special people who will nourish us and help us along this journey. We will find that the more we let down the walls and let these soul families come pouring through our hearts that we’ll be even more inspired to collect ourselves and push toward a common goal, a hopeful horizon together. Allow the change for people to get to know you and for you to start forming bonds of trust – they will strengthen, not weaken us.

Allow yourself to drift in imagination for a moment. A fragment of your heart, a piece of your soul finds its sense of home among the flowing waters of togetherness, where no matter what form we take – ice, snow, river, ocean, morning dew drops, no matter what, we are still the same – water, where no molecule is more significant than another, but each has its own life-giving and life taking qualities. So too are we in our humanity, made of the same waters that the star stuff of our souls remember whether hurtling through space as an icy comet or lapping at the lakes of a long-gone planet in the Orion constellation, we are as ancient, new, similar and different as each form of water. None of us are more important than the other and no matter what form we take, or what challenges our upbringing gave us, we are truly equals in our hearts and souls. Use this imagery as a basis for mediation this week to feel united by what connects us instead of what separates us.

You have to step onto the yellow brick road before you’ll encounter the first companions meant to help you on your journey (or at least before you recognize them). If you go through the steps of parsing out what is yours vs the external world has dumped into your experience. Untangling this knot will help direct you to the path of your heart, your soul’s calling. To know what is truly yours start with the question “If you knew you were truly supported, what would you do?” Once you decide what your heart wants and commit yourself to step on the path, it will call forth those companions, guides, mentors, and protectors who are right to help your cause.
Parting words from a Geek Empress
Sort of like Harry Potter and the four houses have been soured by the pissy rants of JKRowling, starseeds now reeks of the kind of bypassing that defends colonization or patriarchy. Even though they might have innocently believed they have a mission here on Earth, they have become so obsessed with returning to their cosmic home, with being anywhere but here, that they ignore the suffering they contribute to right here on Earth. Through the clever use of theatrics and the pre-existing ignorance of a populace coddled by baked-in systems of supremacy, as we saw, they could be talked into anything…including aligning with fascism.
The heart-centered leaders of tomorrow are those who will interrogate their motives, double-check themselves with science, reason, and other experts and most importantly they will be addressing the biases they hold. Our collective liberation cannot be achieved if by “collective” we mean “only those who look/believe/think like us”. We won’t be creating a new world if we choose to abandon humanity to its own devices – and yet, that is what the fractures from last week keep urging us to do, isn’t it?
If we dare to do the impossible, to step on the path that everyone jokingly thinks won’t work out, we become the new, intrepid explorers of the soul. And when we glimpse that togetherness, that cosmic fabric of brilliant interdependence and simplicity, it is impossible to unsee it. Much like Jodie Foster in Contact, it is too overwhelming for words and despite our best efforts few, if any will ever be able to see what we see…but the more we share what we know, we flow with purpose toward that connective truth, the more others will explore for themselves. And that…that is enough. To show up in our truth and believe.
I’m not saying that we have to personally ensure every single person is on board…that is impossible. It does mean we don’t shut the gates just because that person is different than us or didn’t learn the same way we did. We each come to “the cause” of humanity in our own time and through whatever crossroads we happen to be at. It means we keep the fires going, the signs painted, the crumbs on the path so others can find us when they’re ready…when they finally find their purpose and start flowing with us instead of always against us.

Registration is now open for the Spark the Heart Network group. The first meeting is on June 25, via Zoom.
The first topic we’ll be covering is So you have a calling…now what?!
- What is it?
- A virtual monthly support & networking membership group for soul-centered activists, leaders & helpers.
- Members can sign up to present at a quarterly skillshare meeting to learn about each others’ experiences, services, and backgrounds to better exchange information and referrals.
- The vision is to grow it into a framework that can support fundraising, volunteers, or resourcing for members’ mutual aid projects and outside charities nominated and voted on by the group at large.
- Why is it needed?
- Speaking from experience, we all need a place to regroup when the world gets to be too much. When disinformation has us doubting our knowledge systems makes us doubt our worth. Double that for anyone who works with vulnerable communities.
- This is a space for sensitive souls to Let go of the hurt, gather our strength, straighten our crowns, and get back to the radical love we are here to give.
- Who is this group designed for?
- Those who have personal or professional experience as a community healer, activist, navigator, service provider, or leader?
- Those who consider themselves heart-centered or soul-led in describing their approach to the world.
- Anyone who feels called to contribute their skills to building a more loving world
- Those looking to expand their network of caring souls who don’t ignore the suffering of the world, but also need support in responding to it.
