March 5, 2023/ Light Seer’s Tarot
Intro Notes to the Deck & Reading
The Light Seer’s tarot is a deck I recommend to everyone. It’s wonderfully compassionate, accurate, and diverse while breaking away from some of the more traditional interpretations for a more affirmative reading. Even so, this deck’s optimism couldn’t negate how our old friend groups are breaking away. Cycles that started 3 years ago are coming to a close as Saturn moves into Pisces this week, the same day as the full moon in Virgo. For those interested in this week’s astrology & moon aspects, I have more coming for Patreon ($3.33+) members.
It is no surprise that this energy is present during COVID Memorial Day (the first Monday of March) which honors those who died of COVID. With more than 6 million dead worldwide, over 1 million of them from the U.S., we were so busy surviving that we didn’t notice how each of those missing people sends ripples of pain through our shared humanity. Every child who lost a parent brings the waves of that grief with them into school, to their families, to their sports teams, and to friendships. Everyone who lost a co-worker to COVID had to absorb extra responsibilities, processing their grief only briefly before it was business as usual. Every disabled person who lost a caregiver or advocate was thrust into a world of uncertainty, delay, and worsening medical conditions.
This has impacted all of us – both practically and spiritually. I highly recommend focusing on the Root chakra for healing this week. Engage with the earth and share your tears overall we have lost.
Where We Are This Week

Six of Pentacles (R)
Root Chakra
If you’re on this page, you’re likely someone who pours their whole heart into serving others. You give of your time, talent, and treasure to help your community. And, if you’re anything like me, the spirit of service often generates reserves to keep you going so you never run out of love to give. However, right now, that process is taking more from us. We might be feeling guilty, cranky, and empty – ashamed of ourselves for not having enough to give to those in the most need. This week we need to focus on finding the source of what’s draining us – likely an expectation from the old world that is no longer compatible with your growth. Stop recklessly hurting yourself in your generosity – instead start narrowing down your energetic leak until you can assess the true source of your drain, including our unprocessed grief.

Third Eye Chakra
Darwin got it wrong – it isn’t survival of the fittest, it’s the revival of the optimists. The cynics aren’t making it out alive. They’ll grumble and sidestep, split hairs, and run circles around each other to avoid dealing with the painful reality of hope. Hope takes courage, optimism, love, and idealism. Our guides are telling us, especially during Pisces season, to open our hearts to the romantic idealist. You know, the person you were before the world disappointed you before you were crushed by the weight of conflicting expectations. We are called to be optimistic dreamers because when the world is crashing down around us and the smug cynics stand around saying “I told you so,” it will be the dreamer who will take the rubble, dust, and decay and make something beautiful out of it.
Messages from Lady Gaia/Mother Earth

Three of Cups (R)
Throat Chakra
Whatever diplomacy we might have achieved last week will prove a waste of time this week. Lady Gaia is pointing me to the separation of several friend groups, particularly groups of spiritual women. There is a growing divide between those whose once safe spaces have been invaded with divisively dehumanizing beliefs and conspiracies. The tokenization of diversity, the cultural appropriation of traditions. the jealous undermining of authenticity and the hyper-capitalist branding wars is fracturing the reason and reality of quite a few of our old friends. This isn’t the sole source of the drain identified in the first card, but it’s still relevant overall. We need to be comfortable letting them go and moving onto our path. Don’t worry – they have people who will come along for them – but right now, we need to break away from them for our own sanity and recovery. If you’re getting red flags about someone – particularly someone who doesn’t respect the rights of trans women, drag queens, or our nonbinary friends – it’s time to set that bitch free. Our only job is to surround ourselves with people who challenge and support us in becoming Who We Really Are.
Messages from Our Ancestors

Hanged Man
Third Eye Chakra
Another major card with another major influence this week. The Hanged Man is a sign that it’s time to take a stroll through someone else’s shoes, listen to the critiques of what was once sacred to us, and ultimately let go of our attachments to old beliefs. See, patriarchy is dying a hollow, lonely, gruesome death (of its own making) and so it keeps grasping out for a handhold, for any semblance of belief to sink its venomous fangs into. We don’t have to give it the nourishment it demands. Instead, we need to suspend our cynical disbelief and knee-jerk reactions long enough to truly see, hear and feel what has been in front of us all along. The only way to do this is through empathy – we’re challenged to make better choices than the people who came before us – that means upending the expectations and letting ourselves out of the box enough to see what is and isn’t really about our world.
Messages from Our Future Selves

King of Wands
Solar Plexus Chakra
One of the biggest lies cis-heterocentric, white patriarchy tells is that equality emasculates men. As if sharing power is per se weak. When in fact, I have never seen anything more attractively strong than people who put aside their egos and apply their full selves to a collective problem. Bringing their fire, passion, their strength, their intuition, and knowledge to the table. It doesn’t matter who wins so long as we as a people progress into a more authentic, full, and divine life. Standing tall and bright in his power, the divine masculine in us is making ready to show up as the passionate, embodied protector. Using his fire to light the way and keep the threats at bay, we will usher in a new era of security, hope, and empowerment.
Messages from Mother Mary

Ace of Cups
Heart Chakra
We were not meant to suffer alone, but rather to share in the love we all have to give. When we get the proper rest, our cup is replenished with love, ready to give, ready to share, and ready to nourish. Throughout the week as we try to find the source of our heartache, notice how full or empty we feel around certain people, and do certain activities. Continue doing the things that allow our hearts to overflow with love and hope. Love is, after all, not an endangered species, but rather a self-renewing resource – all we have to do is choose to use it that way by setting boundaries and taking the time to fill our cup with what brings us joy. Pleasure is a form of resistance.
Undercurrents

The World
Crown Chakra
Sure, there is some heaviness this week, but we are alight with a renewed sense of freedom. Nothing is weighing us down that we can’t handle. We are crossing the threshold of a new reality – one where our freedom to shine will be the source of liberation for others. We end this chapter on a note of gratitude and relief, especially when we look at how far we’ve come and how much we’ve changed.
Final Advice

Five of Pentacles
Heart Chakra
Many of us are feeling like we’re on the outside looking in. Our friend groups are shifting, moving on without us. We’ve been shut out of opportunities that once felt like fate. We’re feeling a spiritual deficit because we’ve been denied access to the comforts of an ignorant and useless world. We can no longer hide in the delusions of a dualistic world – people are neither all good, nor all bad – they just are. The more we reconcile ourselves to the absence of false friends and hollow treasures, the more we’ll find ourselves ready to connect with others just like us. This grief and fear are temporary – have heart.
Parting words from a Geek Empress
For all the positive energy we got out of last week’s reading it’s easy to look at this one and say “WTF?” Energy drains, the breaking away from relationships that matter to us, the feeling of being on the outside looking in. It’s easy to get discouraged because it feels like for every step forward, we take a not-hilarious step backward. This is why our guides point us to the energy of the eternal optimist. And I can’t think of anyone who embodies that energy better than Kaylee from Firefly.
“Everything’s shiny, Captain. Not to fret.” Even when she is fretting herself, Kaylee is usually the optimist – she looks on the bright side, finding something to love in everything she does, especially her engineering. But being an optimist doesn’t mean being weak, because she often speaks her mind and stands up for fairness. Nor will she allow herself to be dicked around by people who don’t have the strength to match her honesty.
Optimism in the face of uncompromising failure takes both strength and resolve. No matter what is happening to you, no matter what intense energies may be flowing around, just remind yourself to see the silver lining hiding behind the storm clouds. No matter how bumpy things get, stay true to yourself and know it will all work out in the end.
Remember, I am with you always in love 💖
