Intro Notes to the Deck & Reading
Raise your hand if you’re in the process of “starting over”🙋‍♀️ Yeah, me too. Whether it’s a relationship, a career, or even just a new hobby that we finally dared to try – we are embarking on a new journey, picking up pieces, gathering your resources for a brand new way of living life. That idea can be both intimidating and exciting. Newness always is.
I intentionally chose The Good Tarot by Colette Baron-Reid because it reads more like an oracle deck, a bit more on the hopeful side of tarot without reversals or scary omens. But also has its share of reflective messages worth considering.
The overall message advises patience more than anything this week. We have to allow these new energy spaces to grow by offering room for that growth to happen. Similar to how we put up a trellis before the vines start to climb, there is an air of preparation in all we do, urging us to address the sacred balance we need to perform our soul’s purpose.

Guess what? That totally amazing thing that you were looking to accomplish is on its way, but have you cleared your dance floor yet to receive it? If you’re going to dance with the divine, you better not be cluttering your time with people who are only distracting you from being in the state of balance you need to receive your truest, happiest manifestations. This is a chance to scrub your dance card so that the opportunities meant for you have room to take up some of your time. To be fully welcome all that you can receive, it’s a good idea to use this week as spring cleaning time.

Our beauty is not found in the lasting achievements written in stone, but in the glowing, thriving spark of divinity we keep safe within. When that comes alive, all else melts away. Truly all the hardship and pain has been to help us find that truth that resides within – the soul purpose we are here to birth into the world. But for that to happen, we must let go of the old and allow ourselves the gift of surrender.

Ever notice how thin the line is between self-defense and punishment? A crisp edge between a deterrent and coercive control. This week’s advice tells us to examine the real-world applications of how you view justice. In particular, I urge you to pay attention to abolitionist voices that offer ideals that embody the restoration of the community. Gently push back against assumptions about criminality, war, and punishment – truly know where you stand and why. (check last week’s reading which also featured the Justice card).

Heart Chakra
Life experience has taught us that no one else will enforce our boundaries but us. However, there is a big difference between a free-for-all boundary-less existence and putting up so many walls that no one can get in. When we are discerning with whom and what we give our energies to, disappointments become nothing more than ripples in the grand flow of our lives. Ordinarily, this card might mean complacency, but here it is about having standards… and also about trusting them. Wait for the right opportunity, the right people, the right energy. Lean on the ancestors to be the cosmic bouncers letting us know who deserves to be on VIP list of our lives and who do not.

Solar Plexus Chakra
Choices will be made, battle lines will be drawn, and missions will be accepted in the coming few months. The familiar will fade into the background as our eyes stare wide at the world around us and the new canyons, forests, and deserts of the path ahead. Soon we will reach a point of no return. Now is the time to tie up loose ends, and pack the necessities, because once it starts the pace will not allow us to go back. This isn’t a bad thing – it means the adventure is truly about to begin!

It is intimidating to start over again. But unlike other times this has happened, we have a greater sense of self and have fewer burdens stacked against us (believe it or not). The growth that has happened since we last started over has been immense. The same can be said for both the emotional maturity of our relationships and the acceptance of a better community (or at least one where the toxic members have gone missing). Imagine the resources we have available to us now that we didn’t have before. More importantly, realize that unlike our prior experiences based on unrecognized trauma, we have a greater capacity to love not just others, but ourselves as well. And what a difference THAT makes!

There is a temptation to poke and prod the seedlings when they start to emerge. We are so desperate to control the process that the moment the first hint of our manifestations is noticed, we can think of nothing else. It becomes an obsession – driven by an insecurity – a sneaking suspicion that maybe it wasn’t meant to be, we start applying more pressure, breaking the fragile shoot with our interference. Remember that nothing grows instantaneously (and if it does, it might be good to be suspicious). Allow, the natural processes to take place in their own time, and remember that trust is as sacred as action.

Last week the heart-centered advice for the same card in reverse was to examine the ways our guard is up in perhaps irrationally paranoid ways. Well, this week it’s a bit different. We have a better view now, less cluttered by the expectations of vague possibility. We are better informed about the influences and consequences. Each day we’re realizing how utterly rigged the system is against sustained prosperity for us all. It is easier to identify the threads and stand our ground now that we know we’re not standing on false pretenses and manufactured hope. But trust that this is a position of power, not one we need to cower from. Let this recharge you.
Parting words from a Geek Empress
If you were singing the title of this week’s reading to the tune of “Let it Go!” you’re definitely on the right track. This week is all about surrendering to the power that is itching to be birthed through us. Let go of the preconceptions and expectations so we can make room to be our true selves.
Yet, just like Elsa, just because we’ve chosen this path doesn’t make us an expert. Nor does it mean we can control the way it grows within us. -Yet. That’s what this process is for. No matter how experienced we are in the ways of the world, the ways of our calling, what we are doing now is different because we are fundamentally different. By leaning into our -yes – we chose to love ourselves, trust our intuition, and take a new path. This is a time to learn the new us while keeping space open for the universe to deliver new surprises.
Do you know what else that means? We can be mentoring the people who are transitioning into roles that once suited us, but we’ve now outgrown. This kind of overlap of skill sets is exactly the kind of interconnected network of support we need in the world right now. Sharing the generosity of our experience will make it easier to adjust to learning our new roles as well.
Allow this time to make room for the pivot of your perspective and the integration of fresh challenges. We have a better view of what deserves our attention and time. Have patience with this process and in the end, the reward will be growth beyond imagination.
